How to Create a Luxurious Fully Tiled Bathroom

Are you looking for fully tiled bathroom ideas? (otherwise referred to as floor to ceiling tiled bathrooms). It is often said that tiling the walls in a bathroom can make the room feel more luxurious and expensive (which can be true!). If done incorrectly however, it can make the room feel cold, soulless and almost prison like.

Creating that Spa-like Feel

One of the many reasons people believe that having floor to ceiling tiles gives a luxurious feel to the bathroom is that it can make the bathroom feel like a spa. This is especially the case when paired with other elements such as an expansive shower area, large rain shower heads or even a bench seat located in the shower wet area. Coupled with some calming bathroom décor and you’ve got yourself a relaxing space where you can try and recreate that feeling of being in a day spa.

Beware of the Dark Grey Tile

A common mistake people can make is fully tiling their bathroom with dark coloured or dark grey tiles. This can often give a cold unwelcome appearance (a stark contrast to the day spa vibes we discussed earlier!). Rather than being calming, dark grey tiles in particular can make the space feeling claustrophobic and closed in.

That is not to say that there is no place for grey tiles in bathrooms (quite the contrary!). Dark grey tiles can be excellent at hiding the fact that they haven’t been washed in a week! They can also be an excellent addition to your modern bathroom, when paired with other design features to help make the space feel lighter and more homely.

Breaking Things up with a Feature Wall

While the classic painted feature wall might be falling deeper and deeper out of fashion, a tiled feature wall can be an excellent way to add a different texture to the space. It also can simultaneously brighten up the area making it feel less cold and unfeeling. KitKat tiles or finger tiles can be an excellent way to break up a grey bathroom making it look chic but also inviting and warm. Alternatively, play around with different feature tiles (think mermaid penny round tiles) to add more character into your space.

Creating a Luxurious Bathroom without Tiling Floor to Ceiling

Looking for other ways to make your bathroom feel luxe and expensive without committing to a fully tiled bathroom? Other ways to spruce up your bathroom renovation could include large artwork pieces, shutter blinds and micro-cement or venetian plaster. Micro-cement is also an upcoming trend for those wanting the luxurious appeal of Venetian plaster without the hefty price tag! The Final Verdict

A fully tiled bathroom can be an excellent way to increase the lavish appeal of your living space and give you the relaxing feeling of entering a day spa all from the comfort of your own home. Something to keep in mind- be careful with colour choice in your tiles to avoid creating a cold unwelcome environment. Also be mindful that tiling along each wall can increase the price of the room significantly! Whichever way you decide there are plenty of ways to make your bathroom luxe as well as homely and relaxing. Let me know your thoughts on fully tiled bathrooms below!
